Covington is a selection of centipedegrass discovered in north Georgia. Covington features rapid lateral growth, allowing it to recover quickly from damage and swiftly re-grow following harvesting. Covington's uniform emerald-green color and stems set it apart from other centipede grasses. In addition, Covington's seed heads are green with no purple pigment to reduce quality. This solid green look is enhanced by white flowers and light gray seed heads making a perfect match of colors. Covington also exhibits good disease tolerance and outstanding fall color retention, staying green several weeks longer than other centipede varieties.
