Santee is a centipede variety from central Georgia, originally selected by a turf producer. It has a massive root system, much stronger than any other centipede variety. That strong root system enables Santee to grow very fast and cover the ground in very little time. Plus, the roots better allow for the efficient uptake of water and nutrients from the soil, making Santee a very drought tolerant grass. Santee requires less fertilization than other Centipede grasses and exhibits very good disease resistance. Its cold tolerance is very good, allowing it to stay green longer in the fall and come back earlier in the spring.
