Celebration has a distinctive blue-green color and soft texture. Long appreciated by golf course professionals, Celebration is making its way into athletic fields and parks because of a unique combination of aesthetic, performance and maintenance advantages.
Celebration offers specifiers, landscapers, sports turf managers and parks & recreation mangers exceptional performance across a wide spectrum of applications. This superior bermudagrass grows in very rapidly, making it ready for play in as few as 90 days, although 90-120 days is more common – much sooner than many older bermudagrass standards. Once grown in, Celebration holds up under tough daily wear: soccer play, baseball games, even polo matches and horse races. Tight and dense runners, rhizomes and deep roots provide excellent sod strength and improved drought tolerance.
Turf managers will appreciate that Celebration requires less mowing and water than typical bermudagrass varieties. Rotary or reel mowers are appropriate (although reel mowers are recommended for maintaining very short heights). Lower, and less frequent, fertilizer inputs will successfully maintain Celebration’s color and growth rate. Celebration will tolerate a higher degree of shade than other bermudagrasses: a valuable benefit for many parks and commercial sites.
Narrow lead blade widths (just 1.7mm) create a finer, softer texture. While this softness is tactically appealing, it also translates to lower surface hardness (higher surface hardness correlates to increased risk of player injuries).
