EMPIRE, available in the U.S. since 1999, has elevated the standards of commercial landscape planners, specifiers and managers. EMPIRE combines soft-to-the-touch feel with fine, tight-bladed growth, lush green color, and durability.
Beauty and functionality suit EMPIRE for use in varying climatic conditions and soils. EMPIRE needs less water and maintenance than most other turfgrasses: in some instances, once naturalized to the local climate, EMPIRE requires minimal care...including less water.
EMPIRE has a remarkable drought resistance mechanism. During periods of water deficit, EMPIRE turns brown as it goes into a dormant state, to conserve the plant's energy and other resources.
While other turfgrasses will wilt and eventually die out during drought periods, EMPIRE's dormancy enables it to survive longer, and to green up as soon as water/irrigation returns.
There may be no other turfgrass available on the market today that rivals EMPIRE's optimum combination of performance and aesthetics. You should consider EMPIRE if you are evaluating turfgrass selections for a commercial site. It is a softer zoysia; hardy; very drought tolerant; and less demanding.
