Commercial Development

Aesthetically Superior, Commercially Viable

Commercial applications demand durable, versatile and aesthetically appealing turfgrasses. The right turfgrass enhances a commercial property’s value, and can reduce long-term maintenance costs.

Any of our varieties is suitable for commercial applications; with the caveat, of course, that any landscape should be thoroughly evaluated for its climatic conditions and other application needs before turfgrass is selected and installed.

Consider these varieties when you are looking for practical solutions to small- and large-scale commercial needs.

Celebration Bermudagrass – Unique blue-green color and soft texture create a smooth finish, but it is superlative performance qualities that suit Celebration for high traffic areas. Celebration has rapid lateral growth, and quickly covers over wear and other damage. It is an extremely durable turfgrass that will take more wear and tear than other selections, including other bermudagrasses. Celebration will tolerate more shade than other bermudas, and needs less maintenance.

EMPIRE Turf– This versatile grass is a standout in commercial areas, as well as in large home developments, municipal parks and playgrounds. EMPIRE has been successfully specified for roadsides and highway medians, due to its hardiness and reduced maintenance requirements. EMPIRE’s lush green color and softer zoysiagrass texture make it appealing. However, it is EMPIRE’s improved weed, insect and disease resistance, as well as its lower needs for water and other inputs that make it most viable for the long-term. As one landscape manager for a large residential/commercial development said: “I fell in love with the look and then I was really impressed with the performance.”

Palmetto St. Augustine – Choose Palmetto for dark emerald green color, lower maintenance needs, and adaptability. Palmetto will grow in sand, sandy loam, clay or muck. This improved St. Augustine offers a high degree of shade tolerance, and can get by with as few as 3-4 hours of sunlight each day; which makes it a viable selection for properties with shady areas.

Sapphire St. Augustine – Sapphire is distinguished by unique blue green color and fine-bladed texture that is unique for a St. Aug. It grows in rapidly, and quickly covers over damage. For its resilience and soft texture, Sapphire is called “The only fine-bladed, high performance St. Augustine in the world.”
