An attractive lawn makes a wonderful setting for a home, and adds beauty to the area. Lawns reduce dust, heat and glare; they clean the air; and they also diminish noise, help prevent erosion and surface runoff, and provide good play spaces. Another benefit of an attractive lawn is that it can contribute to positive mental health: studies have shown that the presence of turfgrass and other plant life in our environments can have a calming effect on humans.
Most people that have read this far into a turfgrass-oriented Web site, and are reviewing turf varieties, already agree that a lawn provides benefits to property and lifestyle. The challenge then is for a homeowner, builder or developer to select the right turfgrass for the property and its unique demands.
Sod Solutions has developed a number of different turfgrasses that are ideal for residential landscapes. Some of our varieties have become popular residential lawn standards over many years; and others are currently emerging as newer, improved varieties that also offer better aesthetics and reduced maintenance needs.
We invite you to explore any of these varieties to find the one that is best for you and your lawn.
EMPIRE Turf - EMPIRE elevates the standards and expectiations for warm season turfgrasses. EMPIRE combined soft-to-the-touch feel, fine tight blade growth and lush green color with durability.
Celebration Bermudagrass - Celebration has striking blue-green color and soft texture. It tolerates drought and cold and has a higher degree of shade tolerance than other bermudagrasses. Celebration is extremely wear tolerant, able to easily stand up to neighboorhood traffic.
Palmetto St. Augustine - Palmetto is a hardy, low maintenance turfgrass with outstanding emerald-green color. It performs well in full sun, yet also thrives in shaded areas with 3-4 hours of direct daily sunlight. Palmetto has been a landscaping standard since 1994.
Sapphire St. Augustine - Sapphire is an attractive turfgrass with fast horizontal growth and a thinner leaf blade giving a fine appearance. Sapphire's rapid prostrate growth enables it to recover from any damage quicker than other St. Augustine varieties.
Captiva St. Augustine - Captiva is a new St. Augustine variety released after 15 years of research by the University of Florida. Captiva is resistant to the Southern Chinch Bug and features a slow rate of vertical growth, meaning less mowing for the end-user.
Bella Bluegrass - Bella is a cool season turfgrass found from the transition zone - north. It is a vegetative variety, meaning it is planted as sod or sprigged in but not seeded. Bella is a dwarf bluegrass and will only grow to about 4 inches in height meaing 50%-80% less mowing.
