In a continuing effort to strengthen relationships with its business partners, Sod Solutions recently held its Third Annual Florida Producer's Meeting. Over fifty producers and guests gathered in Orlando, Florida on December 6, 1999, to participate in the meeting. The agenda consisted of a multi-media presentation by Sod Solutions staff members, a technical presentation by Dr. Bert McCarty, a question and answer period dealing with production issues, and a buffet lunch.

 

Highlighting the multi-media presentation were over one hundred fifty photographic images depicting the characteristics, production and performance of Sod Solutions' three turfgrass varieties; Palmetto^® St. Augustine, EMPIRE^® Zoysia, and EMPRESS^® Zoysia. "All three programs continue to grow with increased domestic and international production and sales," said Tobey Wagner, President, Sod Solutions, Inc.

 

The producers and guests were also given a marketing update. Of special interest was the first-time viewing of a recently produced video tape presentation highlighting Palmetto St. Augustine, EMPIRE Zoysia, and EMPRESS Zoysia. The production, a ten minute spot that will air on The Designer's Landscape With Gary Alan television program, was a joint effort between Sod Solutions, Inc. and King Ranch-Florida. This program will been seen nationwide on HGTV and PBS affiliates throughout 2000 and will reach a potential audience of over 230 million households.

 

Dr. Bert McCarty, Clemson University, served as the guest speaker for the Producer's Meeting and spoke about turfgrass chemicals / uses and turfgrass research activities at Clemson University; including on-going comparative studies involving several zoysiagrass varieties. To the delight of all present, data collected as part of the zoysiagrass studies reflected very positively on both EMPIRE Zoysia and EMPRESS Zoysia.

 

The Producer's Meeting was concluded with a discussion of new trends and technologies within the turfgrass sod production industry and a question and answer period that focused on production practices. The Florida Producer's Meeting is the first of several Sod Solutions' producer's meetings that will be held throughout the US in 2000. Copies of the presentation material, including Dr. McCarty's presentation, are available to licensed producers through Sod Solutions' corporate offices.
